Successful outcome to repeated requests to reinstate the CCTV so as to provide a deterrent to illegal dumping

Cllr. William Lavelle has welcomed the reinstatement of CCTV at the recycling bring banks at Ballyowen Castle (Eurospar). This marks a successful outcome to repeated requests from Cllr. Lavelle to reinstate the CCTV so as to provide a deterrent to illegal dumping.

William states: “Since the CCTV was removed from this area by the council, there was a marked increase in dumping at the recycling bring banks. This led to increased litter in the area as the wind often blew dumped material onto the main road.

“I had repeatedly raised the need to reinstate the CCTV and at I had even brought photos of the dumping to meetings of the Lucan Area Committee to highlight the problem.

“Earlier this year council management agreed with my request and this new CCTV has now been provided as part of the council’s Public Realm Transformation Initiative.

“As a result, over the past two weekends I have noted a significant reduction in dumping at the bring bank.
