Cllr. William Lavelle, Fine Gael councillor for Lucan, has welcomed the commitment by the Receivers appointed to Maplewood Developments, to finish-off The Paddocks estate at Adamstown so that South Dublin County Council can take the estate in charge

Cllr. Lavelle received this commitment at a meeting he held today (Tuesday 20th March) with the firm of Grant Thorntons who were last month appointed as Receivers by the High Court at the request of Ulster Bank.

Cllr. Lavelle stated: “In recent weeks I have been contacted by a large number of Paddocks residents who were concerned over the future of their estate following the appointment of Receivers.

“I sought a meeting with the Receivers so as to represent residents’ views and to seek an update on the plans for the estate.

“At today’s meeting, the Receivers committed to:

  • Firstly completing all outstanding snagging works such that the estate could be taken-in-charge as soon as possible by the council;
  • Secondly  to removing the large piles of earth at The Paddocks Crescent so as to extend the open space;
  • Thirdly to completing housing developments at The Paddocks Crescent and the Dodsboro end of The Paddocks View so as to finish-off those areas of the estate.

“I warmly welcome these commitments which I hope will result in a satisfactory resolution of outstanding issues affecting The Paddock estate.

“I also raised the need for enhanced boundary treatment to The Paddocks building site along Dodsboro Road as this area has unfortunately become an eyesore. I also expressed the concerns of residents from both Hillcrest & Westbury regarding anti-social behaviour on the Maplewood-owned site behind Superquinn. In response the Receiver confirmed that they had just completed a health and safety assessment of these areas and that they would now look at improved boundary treatment to address the problems I had highlighted.
